January 26-28

10:15pm, and to think, I almost forgot to post my blog! That would have pretty well been the end of the world, even though chances are my prof's don't even check this out anymore to see if, just in case, I maybe posted something. Seeing as how I didn't post anything last semester (mostly because i didn't have the initiative.. or my password for this...) I don't REALLY blame them, but I hope that hope wasn't completely lost.

Anyways, this was a terrible week for Aquinas, not because I didn't learn anything, but because I didn't make it to most classes. I ended up getting some sort of bug, and dying in my room the whole week.

I only made it to one class, and that was Journalism on Tuesday.2.5 hours of one class can definitely be a bit of a bore, but at least we are talking about interesting stuff. We had to read this crazy story (Justice at Night), about a lynching, and then went in to talk about things that aren't so fun. I won't lie, I'm not 100% sure on what we talked about.. I do know that I missed a great Journalism class on Thursday, but there was no way I could leave my room.

English and Religious Studies.. I didn't quite make it there. Is it strange to feel bad for missing a class?

Occasions: GREAT occasions this week! I went to three: the Nik Nanos lecture on polling, Pinchas Gutter speaking about the holocaust, and Oedipus Rex. They were all great! I learned about polling from Nik Nanos, which isn't something I would ever think about. I learned about Mr Gutter's experiences during the holocaust (SO SAD!). I also learned the story of Oedipus Rex, which I have heard of, but never really got to hear the gist of until I saw the play. I am taking care of these occasions! Only three left, and I am already excited to attend them.

January 19-21

Second week back, and things seem to be going pretty good. I've been doing well for getting my work done, and really enjoying the class discussions.

Religious Studies is focusing on accepting religions and sexuality. People have different views on religion. Jesus is human, so maybe he did have an active sex life with Mary Magdalene. That's no big deal to me, I mean.. he's still human. I really liked the readings, although at times all I could think was "some shoot me, I don't want to read this anymore". I still learned a lot, things that I wouldn't normally think of.

English hasn't really started up yet this semester, but I'm hoping that the reading we got today will help to get the ball rolling. I think it was neat how Russ took Thom's previous class's work a
and made it more of an English-type topic to take in.

Today in Journalism I learned how to duck.. and cover! What a funny video, although it was not intended to be funny, and was taken super seriously in the 60's. But, for us today.. it is funny. Probably a result of how much technology and media have changed in the past few decades.

Journalism is definitely the class where I am learning the most right now, mostly because the classes are so long, which I'm unsure about my feelings with that.. I mean, it's great to have the time to learn everything we're learning, but two and a half hours is SO LONG. I'd say it's worth it though.

I'm interested to see how the rest of this semester will go when it comes to class times, and what we cover. Everything seems a bit of a mystery, which is not always a bad thing.

As for the rest of this week I plan to learn about cultures, which I have learned about in Anthropology class, but it will be nice to see what they show at the Multicultural Fair.

Well, I guess that's good for this week, seeing as how that was all I learned thus far.

Trying to get back into the swing of things..

Or to start to get into the swing of things since the first of the year.

Wow, have I ever been slacking. I honestly feel bad, not so much for myself, but for Thom, Russ and Michael. I know I didn't do very well, but they were still there to help me out. So, thanks guys! And for my classmates; I understand that you wouldn't want me in your group for group-work. I was a slacker.
But! It's a new semester and a new start!

So, as for this week, I learned how to get onto my blogger account. I have a feeling that this will really help me with my.. you know.. blogging, seeing as how I couldn't get onto it (and didn't really care enough to try to get onto it) last semester. Am I computer illiterare, or what?

First day back in Truth in Society... well, the first part I obviously was not there. So, I learned that I have to get a more annoying alarm clock or something. This waking up on time thing.. not going so well.

I did, however make it to Journalism. Man, I knew then that Journalism was going to be a good time this semester. Last semester we focused more on Religious Studies and English and had a few things that related to Journalism. I really enjoyed watching the videos and seeing the different types of propaganda put out during WWII. It shows us how they used advertisement and media to influence peoples` ideas, which is cool because we need to get out ideas about things from something, but the way that WWII propaganda was done was COMPLETELY too far. Ridiculous, to say the least.

I spoke with Thom on Friday and I got to know about his thoughts on the class, but that`s not really for my learning journal now, is it? I learned a lot just from speaking with Thom. He's a pretty wise guy. Now I really have the drive to do well this semester!
